For people with Dual Core CPU's

Hi Guys

I've got an AMD 64x2 and I was never able to work out why it was a lot slower than it should be.. Skadi on Sublime mentioned this thread on MATY for some hints that really help.

I tried it, and while my game loaded about the same, the graphics feel was much smoother and quicker with much less heaviness than previously.

Just wanted to pass it on.

The bit about telling it to go single core? I'd heard about that too. SIms2 likes one core, while games like Oblivion would love you for having multiple

I have to be honest, I stuggled with some of these instructions, but I understood enough about them to be able to do enough to help me.. if I can follow the chain of explaining what each thing does, we might be able to distill this information down enough that our visitors can understand them..

It'll take a bit though.. I try really hard not to put gibberish on the site.

I got it from Skadi too and found the instructions overwhelming a bit at first, but I persevered and conquered them ...it did help with the loading time for my sims

That's ok, I wouldn't.. I'm just going to have to follow the various programs, read what they're about and once it sinks in, then I can disseminate them..

Thing is, I run a dual core processor on my game computer and now that I have the new video card, it runs smooth as silk... Wonder what I did to make it do that???

Hi guys,

I was in playing my Sims last night and had to change the Core devotion back to number 1, (back to default) It's causing my game to be really jumpy.

After changing it back, it now works fine again except the loading time, so I think I'll just put up with it and go do some housework while I wait for it loadup, because I'm spending more time trying to get it to load faster than I am actually playing the game

Running on 1 processor is only necessary for AMD's as they get bottle-necked - sort of like traffic at a 4 way intersection, but this is not necessary and in fact only hinders Pentiums. Just in case you were not aware I figured I should warn you that it is not all dual core. In fact the pentiums aren't even having any problems with their quad cores and this game either.
