Players' Stories
You should be more innovative
Saturday, 21 November 2009 18:28

In a story, there is a war between the normal and the innovated.

The normal: Focusing money and power

The innovated: Virus-like being for the normal.

My Experience with Securom:
Securom was not strong enough to affect normal issues. However, in V7 or higher, they
try to use a network to control you.

I have purchased a game called Crysis from EA online. After that I downloaded and installed
the game. I had some fun.

After a while I started disliking it, so I uninstalled it in a normal way.

When I do normal basis like a backup,The Imgburn(Disk Burning tool), it said I cannot
burn with SPTI anymore (others are okay, but not SPTI). I tried to find out what was wrong
with it.

When using a rootkit tool from AVG I discovered that there is a rootkit
installed in my system. The kit has also drained my system too much. After I remove
that with the tool, the system returns to normal.

So, what you should do? I suggest all people
1.Not to support these companies who said Securom (or other security methods
,DRM) is good for them
2.Support online games
3. Sue the companies in order to change their environment.

[Note from editor: RYG does not support hacks and will not publish such support.]

Installing in Sandboxie
Saturday, 19 September 2009 23:00
I purchased TMNT and did a scan, only to find out it had SecuROM v7, so I decided to use
Sandboxie and install the game that way so my kids could play. [Note from editor: Sandboxie runs your programs in an isolated space which prevents them from making permanent changes to other programs and data in your computer.]

I went to delete/unistall the files from Sandboxie, good program by the way. I could
not delete the damn protection, not even in a controlled enviroment was I safe.

Then I had to install Unlocker to unlock the damn files, only then could I finish
the unistall. This SecuROM is one nasty protection and should be avoided at all
costs and classed as a virus. If you dont believe me, you should install a game with it in a
virtual environment.

No wonder my computer's been so slow...
Wednesday, 12 August 2009 17:51

A few years ago, my mom bought me "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" video game for the PC. I was a fan of the series, so I immediately installed it on my computer and took a go at it. Minutes into the game, I became bored, so I uninstalled and forgot about it. That was in 2007.

Cut now to 2009: I'm shopping around for games that are similar to my beloved KotOR when I discover that most of Bioware's gems are just as highly praised! I rejoice and order copies of Oblivion and Jade Empire for the PC. After shopping around some
more, I decide that Mass Effect looks like a pretty sweet game as well, so I head over to Amazon.com to buy it.

To my horror, Amazon's user reviews of the game reveal that the game is carrier of the Securom trojan. My first reaction was to pirate a Securom-less version of the game, but I didn't have enough free space, so I started doing some research. Eventually, I happened upon Reclaim Your Game and found out that the stupid "Pirates
of the Caribbean" game had Securom-ed my computer. A Windows search for "securom" on my C drive confirmed it.

Seeing that dreaded Securom folder was like discovering that your one-night stand had AIDS and now (surprise!) you do, too. Thanks to your website, I was able to remove it. I still don't know what I'm going to do with the infected Jade Empire SE when it gets here, though. My heart is quite broken.

$4000 down the drain
Friday, 31 July 2009 19:45

When I had Mass Effect for the PC, my computer would be slowling down, random BSOD,
wouldn't detect my DVD drive, wouldn't detect any USB (had to use ancient non-USB
keyboard and Mouse).

I called computer tech support, all my family, there weren't any viruses on the
computer. But the techie did say that there were at least 2 trojans on the machine,
and they were definitely linked to SecuROM.

So me and my family went all over hell looking for methods to get rid of it. The
SecuROM remover tool did nothing (even though the game was gone), everything to do
with the program remained, as were all the problems.

Ultimately I was told that the computer was garbage. I didn't argue with this and
ultimately threw it away, saying goodbye to the $1800 I spent on it and its parts.

This happened two more times later, I didn't really pay that much attention to
gaming news and got hit with it again with Spore, and then again with TS2. I
couldn't have been more pissed.

Sony, you cheated me out of over $4000 worth of computers. I demand that you get rid
of that chaotic program and compensate everyone who lost everything due to this god
damned spyware.
